This book highlights the significant taboo and oppression surrounding divorce for women in Kenyan churches and communities. Focusing on the experiences of Black African women seeking divorce from abusive husbands, it exposes corrupt local systems and patriarchal attitudes that treat these women as outcasts, often blaming them for family breakdowns. The author shares her own traumatic eight-year divorce from an abusive foreign husband, detailing the lack of support and the emotional and legal challenges she faced in a patriarchal society. Drawing on her experiences in the West, she advocates for change in how Black women are treated during divorce. Ultimately, the book uses the author's personal journey and faith to offer insight, preparation, and a path towards healing, reconciliation, and restoration for Kenyan women navigating divorce. It also aims to challenge the negative attitudes towards divorced women, starting with the often oppressive role of churches, and to give a voice to the voiceless and defeated.
